Commitment to Technology
The journey of becoming a teacher has shown me many
things but one of the most important is how valuable technology is in the
classroom. So far my studies have included various tools, software, hardware
and strategies that will be helpful to my future students. Utilizing the
technology along with lesson planning, classroom management, and assessment
skills can help create a classroom that is fun and learning enriched, that also
allows students to become more proficient with technology.
The new technology skills that I have learned along the way will help me to create and organize my lessons in a way which the students will benefit. My own learning of the technology and how to correctly use most of it has definitely been exciting. I have learned things about programs and software that I thought I already knew as well as tools that are going to be a great help in my classroom. Learning to incorporate the 21st Century tools into my lessons has been a good challenge and learning experience for me as well.
Knowledge of technology is extremely important in our classrooms now. In order for our students to have the ability to do, teachers must have the ability. With technology at its level of importance in almost every aspect of life, it is extremely important that the educators we are putting in front of our children have the knowledge that it requires. I feel that it is my responsibility as a future educator to have that depth of knowledge and be able to pass it along to the students. The lessons that I produce not only need to allow the use of technology but also allow the students to become proficient and flourish with in it.
I have included several artifacts below to illustrate my commitment to technology. The first artifact is an interactive Power Point I created to use with a second grade classroom. I used it as an introduction/review to a money counting lesson. The students were very receptive to the Power Point and enjoyed being able to come forward in the classroom and use the Smart Board. The second artifact is an internet scavenger hunt that I created in the WVSU technology class. This could be very easily used in the classroom and would help the students to become more familiar with navigating on the internet.
The third artifact included is a chart of the visual field experience hours that I completed in Education 300. The videos that I viewed all had strong purposes and taught me about different ways to integrate technology into lesson planning. The last artifact below is a website evaluation that I created. The evaluation helps students check the content of websites they might view. It teaches that not everything you find on the internet is true and we need to be cautious when using information.

the teacher is the most important." - Bill Gates
